Las Vegas

I have been to Vegas 11 times so far and each time I go find new things to see and do. I often get asked what I recommend so here are my top tips (of course you may have your own!)

Fav places to stay

The Cosmopolitan has rooms with a terrace that overlook the fountains at the Bellagio

The Excalibur is great value

The pool at The Encore/Wynn is fabulous

The Palazzo at The Venetian are all suites, lovely large rooms!

Fav places to eat

The steakhouse at Circus Circus

Huge plates of Nachos and fun atmosphere at Margaritaville

Fine dining at lots of hotels including The Bellagio,The Wynn,Mandalay Bay

Wicked Spoon buffet at Cosmospolitan

Heart attack grill in the old town Fremont Street for HUGE burgers and a fun atmosphere (you wear surgical gowns and are served by doctors and nurses!)

the smallest burger at Heart Attack Grill!

Buffet at the Bellagio- Sunday brunch is very good

Go off strip and eat at restaurants where the locals eat. The Black Bear Diner is fab for breakfast!

Fav things to do

See a show or a concert- West End style theatre shows, music performances from top stars the list is endless! Cirque du Soleil performances are jaw dropping

Watch the fountains at Bellagio, the volcano at the Mirage and the Pirates at Treasure Island (free shows)

Take a helicopter flight down the strip at night- an awesome experience

Zipline Fremont Street- great fun!

Mob museum in old town is great

on the ‘electric chair’ at the mob museum

Just wander round the hotels; each has a different theme, you can visit casinos, shops, restaurants and attractions even if you’re not a resident.

Go shopping- there is nothing in Vegas that you can’t buy. There are lots of shops/malls inside the hotels, look out for discount coupons. Or hire a car or take the bus to the outlet malls- there are two. The newer one (and better in my opinion) is up by Fremont Street. The other is at the southern end of the strip

Visit the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam

Renew your vows or get married! I renewed my vows at the Elvis drive in (ha ha!)

Do the rides on the top of the Stratosphere- not for the faint hearted though!

If you have time hire and car and explore; the desert, canyons, Death Valley are all close by

Top Tips

Pick up the ‘what’s on’ guide from a taxi- it will have the next few days events listed

Use Uber rather than cabs- much cheaper

Wear comfy shoes! Although somewhere looks nearby to get there may take a while as roads are wide and you have to use the bridges over. Hotels are massive too!

As a treat for first time visitors book a limo to meet you on arrival at the airport- you’ll never forget it!

Whilst you’re gambling drinks are free, tip the hostess and she will bring your drinks

Look out for free games lessons in the mornings- casinos advertise them on their tables

If you’re visiting over a weekend or holiday period it will be busy-book in advance for your ‘must do’ activities otherwise you may be disappointed

Go to the old part of town (Fremont Street) table limits are lower and drinks cheaper, the bus is cheap and 24 hours

Ladies often get cheaper/free entrance to nightclubs

You won’t see it all in one trip- be prepared to return 🙂
